Last year I turned thirty. Now I know this is not really old, but it was the first time I found myself unexcited by the idea of it being my birthday. I awoke in the morning and showered as usual. Then I looked in the mirror and as I was thinking about the fact that I was not sure if it was me or my mom looking back, I realized it was my birthday. All I could think was, “Oh joy, today we celebrate my graying hair, the lines on my face that deepen every day and the fact that my senior prom dress would barely cover half of me.”
I pulled myself together to face the day. All in all, it was fairly nice until the surprise party that night. My loving family decided it would be funny to throw me an over the hill party. I walked into my favorite restaurant to find it covered in black balloons and black streamers. Best of all, someone went to the trouble of finding a gravestone shaped birthday cake. Just the boost my ego needed!
Next came the presents. Many members of my family took the time to pick out very nice gifts. Others decided to stay with the theme and purchase gag gifts. When I opened my cousin’s gift, my first thought was, “Great, another gag gift.” I think my response was, “Oh, wow, wrinkle cream.” Later on she pulled me aside and told me a secret.
It seems my cousin had been using this very cream since she turned 30 about 5 years earlier. She said that she had felt exactly the same as I did on her 30th. Shortly after that she read an article that highlighted the glory of modern wrinkle creams and decided to add one to her beauty regimen. She said that she had purchased several brands. Each brand generally fell between $10 and $20 per jar. While some did seem to work slightly better than others, she suggested I try a few out on my own.
When I began doing my own research, I found out why. Apparently some wrinkle creams work for all kinds of skin and others work best for a specific type of skin. The type of wrinkle cream you need to purchase not only must match your skin type but also fit the specific kind of damage you are trying to treat. As if this were not confusing enough there were as many kinds of recommended ingredients as there were aspects of treatment.
Finally, what I decided my research boiled down to is that all natural ingredients are the best. This often includes various types of vitamins and oils. Additionally you should look for wrinkle creams that include tea extract. This has many helpful nutrients that will heal skin damage. Fruit and vegetable oils are acceptable as long as they feed your skin instead of clogging your pores. The most important thing the research taught me was to read all the labels and compare them before I made a selection.
Many name brand wrinkle creams have the same ingredients as cheaper brands. They can charge more because people know who they are. Often this is the only difference. At other times this is not the case. Occasionally lesser brands will decorate their packaging to look like a popular brand when in fact they are nothing alike. Brands that do this typically set their price just below that of the product they are mimicking. They believe that by doing this they can fool people into believing they are the same. Often they are right!
Do not fear aging any longer. Consider this your birthday gift from me. Check out the wrinkle creams available and give a few a try. You will not be disappointed. The cost of these products is so low that you will not believe how well they work.
