Planning a great retirement party

Retirement parties are the perfect way to celebrate an employee or coworker who is closing the chapter on their working years. Most retirement parties are for a retiree’s work within a business or company, but no matter who throws the party, there should be decorations that mirror the tone of the celebration. Usually the party is thrown by the company or family and friends. Sometimes coworkers, along with family and friends of the retiree collaborate to organize a retirement party. This will be a memorable event for the retiree as well as those who arrange it. It is an occasion to mark the years of service rendered by a person. There is no better way to send a retiree out than by throwing him or her a memorable retirement party.

When you start planning the perfect party, the first order of business is to designate a location. Choose a location that is large enough to hold everyone on the guest list. Then begin to spread the word by sending invitations to the retiree’s family, friends, coworkers and even acquaintances.

A retirement party should have photographs, scrapbooks and other memorabilia displayed in a prominent location. Give everyone a free trip down memory lane by displaying the retiree’s photographs and memorabilia beginning with baby pictures.

Next, you want to make sure the person who’s retiring is comfortable and delighted to be there, especially if it’s a surprise retirement party. What better way to celebrate someone at a retirement party than to prepare a special chair for the retiree with all the trimmings. A decorated chair with a photo attached will really make this person feel warm and appreciated.
Balloons are a great way to decorate for a retirement party. You can use balloons in a variety of ways, but you can begin by decorating the entrance to the party with a colorful balloon arch. Tie more balloons to the chairs and even let some helium filled balloons float along the ceiling.

Toss some boldly printed tablecloths over the tables, dangle some party lights along the walls, pass the beverages out in fancy coconut cups with umbrella straws, and the party is set for entertainment and reminiscing.

Keep in mind that the whole purpose for this party is to make the retiree feel loved and appreciated. You want to honor the years of dedicated services he or she has provided, but also celebrate the new beginnings of retirement. This is the first of many parties for the retiree!

You can take the party to a whole new level by personalizing the theme. If the retiree loves sports, use his favorite team colors for the balloons and table covers. If the retiree loves to travel, have a travel-themed party or even a Hawaiian luau. No matter what theme is chosen, no retirement party is complete without a colorful banner stating, “Happy Retirement.” And finally, you want to erect a podium for presentations by friends who would like to say a public word of appreciation on this special occasion.

Visit a party supply store online to find everything you need to plan the perfect retirement party. You can order all the supplies you will need, from balloons to table coverings, in one convenient location.
